IYG's What It's Like to Be Me: An Interactive LGBTQ Cultural Competency
is a 4-hour, interactive training, where each participant receives the demographics of an LGBTQ+ youth to help experience the information given through the youth's perspective

Training Objectives:

  • Increase knowledge of terms, concepts, and issues in the LGBTQ community
  • Understand the need to respect and support LGBTQ+ individuals and their families
  • Balance one's cultural, religious, and moral background with one's professionalism to do no harm
  • Identify current areas of strength and areas of needed improvement to best support LGBTQ+ in the workplace, school, and community develop an action plan for those environments, to move towards 'Best Standards of Care' for LGBTQ youth, adults, and families, including best practice information from Title IX for schools and Section 1557 of Affordable Care Act for health care even though both of the above are currently being re-examined by the U.S. government, they are still considered "best practices" in education and healthcare

If you have specific LGBTQ+ issues or scenarios you'd like covered, or general questions or concerns please contact the IYG Training Program at 317.970.9586 or
