Youth > Indiana GSA Network

The Indiana GSA Network is dedicated to supporting and connecting LGBTQ+ youth all over the state through GSA and Equality Alliance clubs in schools and community centers. We are striving to help all youth feel safe exploring their identity, including their gender and sexuality. If you are a student or teacher who would like to register your GSA or need help starting a new GSA, please visit GSANetwork.org or e-mail us here today.

Why Register?

Registering your GSA with the Indiana GSA Network is not required; we never ask you to do anything you don't want to do. The benefits of registering include:

  • an online support group for GSA club advisers
  • an online hub of resources for making your GSA great
  • a database of all registered Indiana GSA's with contact information
  • access to our state coordinator to answer any and all questions your club has
  • school visits from the state coordinator
  • upcoming events for both advisers and student leaders
  • and more.

A Brief History

In 2008 Indiana Youth Group took over coordination of the Indiana GSA Network. At that point we were connected to six LGBTQ+ youth groups, which were mostly community-based groups in bigger cities and a few high schools.

The number of Indiana high school GSA's started to grow exponentially. Unfortunately, it was the number of national and Indiana LGBTQ youth suicides in 2011 that finally showed many schools the need for these groups.

In the 2014-15 school year, we had our first influx of Indiana middle schools asking for help starting a GSA of their own. At this point, we estimate that there are at least 100 GSA clubs around the state, half of which have utilized our network in 2018.
