Sending a great big shout out to Shelly Fitzgerald (she/her/hers), our August Staff Spotlight Award winner! Shelly is IYG's Donor Relations Manager. Though she has only been in this position since March of this year, Shelly has a long history with IYG. She first became involved in 2002-2003 as an intern while pursuing her counseling degree. She later returned to IYG in an official capacity as a board member from January 2019 until March 2022, continuing to support IYG in the intervening years.
When the Donor Relations position became available, Shelly jumped at the opportunity to pursue her passion of serving LGBTQ+ youth. She also was ecstatic to use her relationship and networking skills to assist IYG in its goals of growing and serving the community. Shelly also added what she loves most about her job: "Getting to witness the immediate, direct impact IYG makes on the LGBTQ+ youth in Indiana. And getting to see, in action, how IYG saves lives and makes lives better." At home, Shelly keeps busy as a dedicated wife and mom. She and her wife, Vic, have been together for 25 years, and they share a 16-year-old daughter, Sofia. They also have three rescue doggies named Desmond, Ben, and River. In her free time, Shelly loves pursuing outdoor activities like boating, as well as yoga.
