This month, we are pleased to announce Elisabeth Huls (she/her/hers or they/them/theirs) as our Staff Spotlight Winner! Elisabeth has been our Volunteer Coordinator since October 2021, and they have quickly become an important part of the IYG family. Her previous experience serving the queer community includes working with discussion groups at the IUPUI LGBTQ+ Center as an undergrad student. Following graduation, Elisabeth immediately sought work with IYG, as they are passionate about serving the queer community – especially its underserved young people. When asked how they feel after several month at IYG, Elisabeth said, “I really love the team that I work with. Our Youth Services team is all about being there for our youth and showing up for each other. I also love seeing our youth grow into the people they want to be. It is super fulfilling to hear all the awesome things our youth are doing in their lives.” Away from the center, Elisabeth enjoys caring for their “army” of houseplants and spending time with their two casts, Marsha and Sparta. They also love spending time outdoors and make it a point to go hiking, backpacking, or camping as often as possible across Indiana and Michigan.
